Things to do in Hofburg Palace
Built in the 13th Century, the Hofburg Castle was originally a Medieval fortress and expanded over the centuries to become the beautiful castle we know today: a symbol of the Austrian culture and royalty. The most recent part of the Palace was added at the beginning of the 20th century, and the only remaining part dating back to the Medieval Times is the Chapel or Burgkapelle. The Palace itself was home to some of the most powerful monarchs in Europe such as the Habsburg dynasty and kept expanding as did their power in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. For centuries, the Hofburg Palace has been the Imperial Palace in the heart of Vienna and the principal winter residence, Schönbrunn Palace being the summer residence. Today, it is the official seat of the Austrian President and an iconic architectural landmark that no traveller should miss.

Reviews Hofburg Palace
“The bus had no air conditioning. The audio was playing music most of the time rather than pointing out the landmarks There is little of interest outside of the old town so it would be cheaper to take a metro into the town and nack”
“Cost 34 euros was on the yellow line tour for 90 minutes mostly no commentary and could only see places at a distance much better value was a 1 day travel card on the underground for 8 euros was quicker and easier to use”
“The bus stop was quite a walk from the mooring and not easy to spot. The bus route close to the ship does a comprehensive 2 hrs round circuit but if you miss a stop you cant go back on yourself. It takes you first over to the other side of the river rather than into the city centre. The commentary is pleasant but not always very informative. Bus stops are sometimes hard to find. Buses run frequently and to time. Once into the city more routes are available to take you to all main areas.”
“One lady at stop 12 very rude asked a question was told to look with my eyes she was more intrested being on her phone also the bus was difficult to navigate”
