This ancient fortress, also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, is one of the Eternal City's most emblematic attractions. Situated on the right bank of the Tiber and a stone's throw away from Vatican City, it offers a fascinating journey into the past.

You'll delve into the legend of Archangel Michael who, according to lore, appeared atop the mausoleum, sheathing his sword to signal the end of the plague of 590. This event bestowed upon the castle its present name. As well as this, you'll have the chance to admire the tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian and explore the Papal corridors within the fortress.

The experience culminates with a sweeping view over Rome and the River Tiber from the castle terrace. Here, you can capture memorable photos of the Sant'Angelo Bridge, also known as the Bridge of Angels. This immersive exploration provides an unforgettable glimpse into Rome's storied past.

The official admission ticket costs €16 per adult and €2 per reduced (EU aged 18–25) free under 18 years for access to Castel Sant’Angelo. The price difference is due to the additional services included in the offer

The entrance tickets will be sent to you via e-mail and/or WhatsApp the day before the visit. You can enter at any time before closing on the day booked. Last entry to Castel Sant'Angelo is at 6.30 pm

The audio guide is available in English, Italian, French, Spanish, German and Chinese. Download instructions for the audio guide will be sent to you via email after booking. You will need 100 to 150 MB of free space for the download

An Android (version 5.0 and up) or an iOS smartphone is required for the audio guide. It is not compatible with Windows Phones, iPhone 5/5C or older, iPod Touch 5th generation or older, iPad 4th generation or older, or iPad Mini 1st generation

You will need to climb a series of stairs to reach the panoramic terrace
