The Levada do Ribeiro Frio is the most well-known levada in Madeira. It begins at Ribeiro Frio, comes down to the Lamaceiros and ends at Portela's viewpoint.

On this trail you will encounter many plants, like the laurel, lily-of-the-valley tree and Madeira mahogany, you will marvel at the effects that the light and shadow produce through them.

The walk will end at Portela viewpoint, one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the island, famous for its three little windmills, where you will enjoy the beautiful sights over Porto da Cruz village, and the spectacular rock formation of Penha d’Águia.
