Exclusively crafted for National Geographic, this tour offers a deep dive into Canarian wine and its historical significance as a cornerstone of European society from the 15th to the 18th century. Next, venture to Viñátigo Winery, a family-run estate celebrated for rescuing Tenerife's native grape varieties from near extinction. Meet the bodega wine specialist amid sprawling vineyards, where you'll learn about diverse grape species and their eco-friendly and organic agricultural methods. Experience their meticulous wine-making process before sampling a selection of their finest wines. Wrap up your day with a delightful spread of authentic Canarian snacks surrounded by the stunning vineyard scenery, immersing yourself in the eye-catching vistas of the landscape and the Atlantic Ocean serving as your backdrop.

North West Tenerife Hidden Secrets Guided Tour with Transport

It's one pretty village after another on this exclusive tour in the rugged northwest of Tenerife. We'll drop in at a roll call of the island's must-visits. Christian, one of our local experts, says, ‘A guide shows you around the park in Icod de los Vinos and gives you the lowdown on its fascinating dragon tree, which is 20 metres tall.' Santiago del Teide, local speciality tasting and a trip to Teno Rural Park are also part of the line-up.You'll journey through Santiago del Teide, a highland village of whitewashed homes. In Icod de Los Vinos, you'll admire the centuries-old dragon tree, with some free time to wander around the town. Garachico – often called the ‘prettiest and unluckiest' – awaits with some interesting history. Devastated by a volcanic eruption in 1706 and rebuilt on its lava, it's now famous for natural lava pools, guarded by a volcanic rock castle, where locals and visitors alike come to bathe. When it's time to take a break, there's a tasty local lunch, served in a family-run restaurant in a traditional finca. Teno Rural Park showcases the island's rich biodiversity and is known as the source of Tenerife's top-quality natural produce. You'll even get to try some locally made marmalades and jams, all produced with a minimum carbon footprint. The ‘lost hamlet' of Masca is also on the cards, one of Tenerife's most eye-catching spots, dramatically perched on a ridge overlooking a valley.

Southern Tenerife sightseeing tour with wine-tasting

Dramatic landscapes and rugged, volcanic shores come as standard in Tenerife. But, not a lot is said about the rich agriculture the island offers. On this tour, you'll journey through the south and get to know the island's culture and identity. You'll see how aloe vera is grown and learn about its many uses at a plantation, explore the lofty village of Vilaflor de Chasna and sample local wines. Ivan, one of our expert local guides, says “Vilaflor was once called Chasna. But, when a ship captain called Pedro de Bracamonte visited, he spotted a beautiful Guanche girl and shouted Vi la flor de Chasna, which means I've seen the flower of Chasna – after this, the village got its name.”The dry climate and year-round sunshine in the Canaries mean that aloe vera thrives here, even though it is not a native species – it originally came from the Arabian Peninsula. You'll take a guided tour of the plantation, and the owners will share their knowledge about the curative powers of this well-known plant, which is used for medicinal purposes in cultures throughout history.Next, you'll visit Vilaflor. Perched on the southern slope of the island's volcano, Mount Teide, the views down to the coast from 1,400 metres above sea level are next level. The village has an almost Alpine feel that's totally different from the tropical coastline – it has the largest pine forest in the Canaries on its doorstep. After a look around the village, you'll visit an award-winning family-owned winery and sit down for a tasting.

On this tour in comfortable minivans, you'll go through a roll call of all the must-dos – local product tastings, exploring Teno Rural Park and visiting picture-postcard villages. Arianne, one of our expert guides, says, ‘You'll unearth the geology of Tenerife's past, discovering impressive landscapes along with the island's history and culture.'It all begins in Icod de Los Vinos. A guided tour of the town takes in its centuries-old dragon tree – located in a park that's more like a botanic garden – traditional colonial-style architecture and a sampling of some local products. Then, it's on to the hard-to-reach ‘lost village' of Masca. Precariously perched on a ridge overlooking a rugged gorge, it's one of Tenerife's most jaw-dropping sights.Next, you'll head down to Garachico on the coast, and discover why it's known as the ‘prettiest and unluckiest' town on the island. Guided Visit to Corpus Christi Festival in La Orotava

Guided Visit to Corpus Christi Festival in La Orotava

Bursting with colour and lively with locals, the Corpus Christi festival in La Orotava is one of Tenerife's most celebrated events. Age-old traditions and vibrant artistry bring this small town to life every year for this famous festival which transforms the town into an artist's canvas. Many streets and squares are decorated with pavement murals created with sand and flowers. Laura, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Designing and making the sand carpets take huge skill and patience, and every grain you see is collected and sprinkled into place by hand.' Known as one of the most spectacular events in Tenerife, this festival is a true feast for the senses. For this occasion, every year the intricate sand paintings are carefully ‘drawn' by the artists who spread the sand using their hands. The centrepiece is a huge sand carpet with a religious theme, laid out in painstaking detail according to ancient tradition, using a variety of coloured lava sand from the craters of the Cañadas. Smaller sand and flower carpets can be found in the surrounding streets. As you stroll through La Orotava to admire these impressive creations, your guide will share insights into the history and significance of Corpus Christi. Marvel at the skill of the artists and their splendid floral arrangements, and perhaps witness the devotion of the locals as they participate in religious processions. Immerse yourself in the culture and heritage of Tenerife as the streets come alive with colour and energy.
