Hidden deep in the Yucatan jungle lies the ancient Maya city of Coba. On this cultural trip, you'll tour its ruins and discover the enigmatic Maya heritage, see a great pyramid, meet local villagers and swim in a sacred cenote. Valentina, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Coba was once a huge city, home to about 50,000 people at its height. Coba means “ruffled waters” because the city was located on two breezy lagoons. It's not as well known as Chichen Itza, so it tends to be quieter and more intimate to move around.'

We arrive early at Coba so that you can explore the site in the cooler hours and avoid the crowds. It's one of the more recently excavated sites in the Yucatan and was once one of the Maya's most important cities. Highlights include the Great Nohoch Mul Pyramid, that stands at more than 40 metres high, and stelae that show the powerful female leaders of ancient Coba. Valentina adds, ‘Coba's main pyramid is the biggest in the region. It's the hub of ancient paved “white roads” that fan out through the site. There are more than 50 of these roads in and around Coba. They were used for trade and communication.'

Next up is a visit to a Maya community, where villagers still live without running water or electricity. You'll meet some of the locals and find out more about their lives and traditions. Experience a Maya ceremony before enjoying a traditional lunch in a nearby restaurant. Finish off the day with a refreshing swim in a nearby cenote.

site très ombragé et propre, l'accès aux monument, dommage qu'il soit meurtri par la construction d'un escalier qui à débuter il y a 5 ans et toujours pas fini. nous aurions voulu êtres prévenu a l'avance de la présence qu'une équipe de photographe nous avons fait leur promotion (pas la notre car le tarif est assez élevé), pour cela et après réflexion je comprend que nous avons passez plus de 4 heures pour écumer 6 hôtels pour que le groupe soit plus important inadmissible

Le site est très interessant. Sa localisation dans la forêt tropicale en particulier. La visite dans une maison maya est curieuse mais apporte une touche de réalisme que n'apportait pas celle de la visite de Chichen Itza par exemple. Seul bémol le temps de transport. Etant en début de circuit nous avons passé 7 h de transport dont 4 à 5 h pour aller chercher les clients dans les hotels. Il eut mieux valu comme pour l'excursion de Chichen Itza d'avoir 2 ou 3 points de "pick up"

L’excursion était très enrichissante ! La balade dans la jungle pour découvrir les pyramides, suivie de la cérémonie maya dans la cénote, le déjeuner, puis l’activité chez l’habitant ont offert un très bel aperçu de la culture locale. Nous avons apprécié ces moments d’échange avec les habitants. C’est l’excursion idéale pour une immersion dans la culture maya. Seul bémol : le trajet de 1h30 aurait mérité un transport un peu plus confortable, mais cela n’a en rien gâché la qualité de l’excursion.

Transport déplorable; VAN ou il n'y pas la place pour mettre ses gambes. VAN totalement inconfortable. Les 4 sièges arrière sans aucune visibilité; nous sommes dans le coffre du VAN, pas de vitres latérales et tellement surélevé que nous n'avions aucune visibilité sur l'avant de la route. Nous avons écouter les commentaire du guide sans rien voir de ces explications. Par conséquence, je vous demande un dédommagement pour le préjudice subit. J'attends des nouvelles de votre part. Cozumel guided snorkelling and island tour from Cancun

Hop aboard a super-speedy boat headed to Cozumel Island, where the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and its marine life are waiting. Soak up the breathtaking landscapes before snorkelling at two of the most famous reefs in the southern part of the island, Palancar and Colombia. They're separated by a couple of metres of open water, so you'll have wall-to-wall reef to explore. Next stop is the shores of El Cielo – which literally means ‘the sky' in English – as it's famous for its peaceful atmosphere and giant starfish population, which you'll find covering much of the ocean floor.
