La péninsule d'Akrotiri est votre terrain d'action lors de ce circuit palpitant en buggy de trois heures au départ de Limassol. Vous verrez de nombreux sites locaux et pourrez même vous lancer sur une piste de motocross. L'expérience a l'exotisme supplémentaire de se dérouler principalement au Royaume-Uni, car Akrotiri est un territoire souverain britannique.

Après un briefing sur la sécurité, le voyage commence par un trajet jusqu'à la célèbre plage de Lady's Mile, sur la côte est de la péninsule. Vous pénétrerez ensuite à l'intérieur des terres et longerez la rive du lac salé de Limassol. Après avoir parcouru la piste de motocross, vous apercevrez le minuscule monastère de Saint-Nicolas des Chats, datant du XIIIe siècle, au milieu des vergers.

La route devient rapidement poussiéreuse et sale lorsque vous franchissez les collines de sable en direction des plages de nidification des tortues. Vous ferez ensuite une halte photo devant l'épave rouillée d'Akrotiri, avant de rejoindre la plage de Kourion pour le final de l'excursion.

Tour was very good, I would highly recommend, but not if you book online like we did our hotel wasn’t an option for pick up we had to walk 15 minutes to the closest hotel pick up to be told by the tui rep at the hotel if we had booked here it would of been an option

The buggy was good but not enough free reign and not enogh time driving as there were too breaks. Out of the 3 hours we were out for nearly half of it was stoppage time for breaks and the trip was advertised as 4=8 hours. Lastly eye protection should be provided as standard.

On this tour, you'll take in Aphrodite's Rock, ancient Paphos and the Tombs of the Kings, visit Kourion – and enjoy free time in the Paphos harbour area. Andreas, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The Tombs of the Kings offer us a valuable insight into ancient Mediterranean culture. There are very similar tombs in Alexandria, demonstrating the strong ties between the two cities in ancient times.'After a coffee pit-stop along the way, you'll stop by Kourion archaeological site to see landmarks such as the theatre – dating from the 2nd century BC – and the Agora. En route to Paphos, there's a photo stop at Petra tou Romiou – or Aphrodite's Rock – where, legend has it, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty emerged from the sea foam. Andreas says, ‘At Kourion, you see the ruined house of Eustolios and find out what life was like here before the city was destroyed by an earthquake in the 4th century.'Next, we'll head to ancient Paphos for a guided visit of the Tombs of the Kings, the House of Dionysos and its well-preserved mosaics. Andreas says, ‘The rock-hewn Tombs of the Kings were not actually intended for royalty, but instead the aristocracy and island governors were laid to rest here. The name reflects the sheer grandeur of the necropolis.' Later, you'll enjoy some free time to shop and wander around Paphos Harbour. Maybe you can stroll along the waterfront or grab a bite to eat at one of the many terrace cafés.

Cyprus is all rolling hills dotted with pretty villages. On this adults-only tour, you'll see where a legend was born, visit the ruins of Kourion, venture to the village of Omodos and cap off the day with a wine tasting. Eva, one of our local guides, says of this excursion, ‘You'll wander through layers of history, culture and mythology.'You'll dive straight into the past at Kourion, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Cyprus. Visit the Roman baths and amble into the site's centrepiece, the Greco-Roman theatre. Concerts are still held to this day. While the mosaics of the trio of excavated houses known as those of Eustolius, the Gladiators and Achilles are as impressive as when they were laid down. The 15th-century Kolossi Castle is up next. This steeped-in-legend Crusader-built fortress is nowadays surrounded by blooming plants. Then, we'll head for a local lunch in a family-run taverna before visiting mountain-fringed Omodos where you'll wander around skinny cobbled streets lined with Byzantine buildings. It's Eva's favourite village. She says, ‘The charm of the stone houses, the tranquillity and peace. It's as if it has sprung from a fairytale. I love dropping into one of the cafés and seeing locals have philosophical discussions, political arguments and a bit of gossip.' To finish, there's a wine tasting session, where you'll learn all about sweet commandaria wine – one of the oldest varieties in the world.
