Cologne Cathedral is the city´s most famous landmark and tourist attraction. The catholic cathedral is a monument for gothic architecture. Constructions began in 1248 but came to a stop in 1473. In 1842 work was picked up again and the cathedral was completed in 1880. It is undergoing constant restorations since 1950. The hight of the two twin towers is 157 meters. In 1996, Cologne Cathedral was declared a World Heritage Site.
