Qué te espera

One of Tenerife's first Spanish settlements, Taganana is also one of the most remote villages on the island. On this trip, it's just one of three scenery-packed locations you'll visit, alongside Candelaria and Anaga Country Park. Jonay, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Anaga Country Park is unique, and it's been listed by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. It's home to one of the last primeval laurel forests in the world. This mystical forest, known as Laurisilva, is characterized by ancient laurel trees, ferns, mosses, and other endemic plant species.'

In maximum groups of just 30 passengers per trip, you'll travel in a fleet of minibuses to discover hidden Tenerife in style. Up until the 60s, the fishing village of Taganana, where sugarcube house cascade down towards the ocean, was only accessible on foot or by boat. These days, a winding coastal road connects it to the rest of the island. Next we'll head to Candelaria, the religious centre of Tenerife – its waterfront basilica can hold 5,000 faithful – for a spot of sightseeing.

We'll continue up the coastal road towards the whitewashed village of Taganana and a lunch of regional delicacies in an authentic, traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, you'll drive through the mountains to the Anaga Country Park with its deep ravines and forests, a landscape that has remained almost unchanged since the Iron Age. Jonay adds, ‘Anaga's ancient forests are a haven for rare flora and fauna such as the Tenerife blue chaffinch and Bolle's pigeon. There are several species unique to the island.

Mysigt med mindre bussar men jobbigt med 2 språklig guide. Föredrar guide med bara engelska. Vi hade en jättetrevlig chaufför i vår minibuss och guiden var också duktig och kunnig men som sagt jobbigt med 2 språk ??

Tour was advertised with English guide, but instead we got a German guide who said he could not translate everything into English. NO guided tour of La Laguna, guide directed us across the road and we were left to wander ourselves. Our small bus ended up being part of a convoy where the guide talk was relayed into our bus by walkie talkie. About 70% of the German was translated to English. Positives, the scenery was awesome, our bus driver was friendly and the bus was clean.

Nat Geo Day Tour: Wine in the Canary Islands - a Sensory Experience

Sipping wine with views of the sun-drenched slopes where it was produced, you'll be immersed in the culture and cultivation of Canarian wines on this exclusive National Geographic Day Tour. Hear about the island's wine-making heritage and embrace the sights, smells, tastes, textures and sounds at a family-run winery as you try four vintages, paired with food at every stop along the senses.First, at La Casa del Vino, a 17th-century estate-turned-museum, you'll be welcomed with a glass of local sparkling wine and a rosquette – a Canarian pastry. Your guide will share the story of how savvy 16th-century Spanish growers planted European vines in the fertile, volcanic soil – catapulting Tenerife onto the global wine scene. Then, it's onto Bodegas El Lomo. See the garden, where rare grapes – almost extinct in Europe – continue to thrive, and sip wine, paired with a signature tapa from visionary chef, Jorge Bosch. The in-house wine specialist will take you through the key scents and stages to reveal a wine's origin in an aroma workshop with another signature tapa. Then, it's out to the patio for harvest snacks with textures of toasted gofio grains and a creamy local goat cheese, served with a fruity carbonic macerated wine. Your grand finale awakens your hearing. In a darkened room, try your final vintage and tapa and tune into how music affects your perception of wine. This is much more than a simple wine-tasting tour – it's a personal insight into how wine can stir the senses.

Half-day private tour of Teide National Park

Ready to rise above it all? This journey takes you straight from your hotel to Spain's highest peak, where otherworldly vistas and rugged lava fields have earned Teide its UNESCO World Heritage status. After a private pick-up from your accommodation, you'll stop at impressive viewpoints along the way – perfect for capturing photos of the volcanic formations and unique island flora. As local guide Carlos says, “Every layer of Teide's rock tells a story of fire and time. Standing here, you're seeing millions of years of the island's volcanic history unfold before your eyes.” You'll take a breather at Las Canadas del Teide, a massive volcanic basin shaped over centuries of eruptions that feels like you're stepping onto another planet. It's the perfect spot to stretch your legs, breathe in the crisp mountain air and sip something warm. With no rush and a pace tailored especially to you, you'll have time to experience Teide's volcanic beauty in your own way. You'll wander through immersive exhibits that dive into the island's origins, with guides on hand to share fascinating insights. You'll also find a native flora garden and interactive displays that trace the island's historic altitude zones through the eyes of legendary explorers like Alexander von Humboldt. There's even a cosy café and a shop if you fancy a bite or a keepsake. When you're ready, you'll hop back in the vehicle for a comfortable ride back to your hotel.

VIP La Gomera by minivan tour from north of Tenerife

La Gomera is the Canary Island where time stood still. Be whisked away in VIP class on the ferry from Tenerife and explore its peaks and valleys in the best way possible – by luxury minivan. Highlights include Abrante viewpoint, San Sebastian and Garajonay National Park – Spain's last remaining rainforest. Arianne, one of our guides on this tour says, "La Gomera is a return to the past, to the origin of the Canary Islands. It's a totally different world."In little over half an hour after landing, you'll go from sea level to more than 1,300m as you snake your way up towards Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are camera-grabbing views of the island's Jurassic-like landscapes along the way. Garajonay is steeped in Canarian mythology, as your guide will explain. There's a stop to explore the mystical Laguna Grande laurel forest, which is so moist that many tree trunks are smothered in moss. You'll tuck into a typical Canarian lunch at a restaurant in the heart of this peaceful and natural forest setting. Here you'll experience a demonstration of silbo gomero, the ancient ‘whistling language' used by islanders to communicate over long distances from valley to valley. After this peek into the heritage of La Gomera, which is still taught in schools there today, you'll head to a square by the port for a drink, with free time to wander the capital, San Sebastian. Finish off the day in style as you head to the VIP section of the ferry where food and drinks are included to while away the crossing.
